To meet challenges of sustainable development on the scale of individual buildings and on the scale of the city, the CSTB carries out its research activities with a systemic approach that is both socioeconomic and technical. These activities integrate all of the constraints pertaining to the city's components, including buildings, infrastructure, utilities, transportation systems…

- in priority areas of public policy: safety, social/economic matters, health, energy/environment, digital integration potential.
