EUB SuperHub: EUropean Building SUstainability PERformance and energy certification HUB
Development of a “SuperHub” web platform for the future European Energy Performance Certificate

The EUB SuperHub project aims to develop methods and tools for the next generation of Energy Performance Certificates for buildings, corresponding to the “DPE” in France (energy performance diagnosis). These methods and tools will be accessible on a web platform.
To reflect technological developments and societal needs, while being consistent in all EU Member States, energy performance assessment and certificates need to evolve and contribute to encouraging energy efficiency and related investments.
The next generation of energy performance certificates will allow more and more data on building operation to be available and observed in ever greater detail by a wider range of stakeholders. Among others, the Level(s) European initiative, which is an assessment framework for sustainable buildings, is already showing the way towards a new holistic vision of buildings, taking sustainability principles into account (LCA, life cycle cost, etc.) for residential, commercial and public buildings.

EuB SuperHub aims to harmonize, improve, extend and increase the reliability of Energy Performance Certificates in Europe by exploiting the multitude of information available on the building. The SuperHub web platform will operate as a one-stop shop and will integrate all modules such as visualisation, simulation, training and services.

zEPHYR - Towards a more efficient exploitation of on-shore and urban wind energy resources

The ambition of this multi-disciplinary training platform is the development and application of advanced meso/microscale atmospheric models and the assessment of the impact of real terrain and local atmospheric effects on the predicted aerodynamic performance, structural dynamics and noise emissions. Obviously, human factors become a critical issue when considering implementing wind turbines in densely populated urban environments. The inter-dependencies between those factors (visual vs. acoustic effects, age or occupation, etc.), which complicate further the analysis of the motivations for a community to endorse or reject a new project, will be addressed as well.

InVIGO - INtake Vortex Ingestion on Ground Operations

One of the most radical new engine architecture promising to make aircraft eco-friendlier is the ultrahigh bypass ratio engine, a conventional shrouded turbofan-type configuration with a much higher bypass ratio. When a turbofan engine operates at ground, a vortex can form and be ingested by the engine intake, which can strongly affect the fan operation. The EU-funded InVIGO project will conduct wind-tunnel tests and computational fluid dynamics simulations to generate a comprehensive database on key vortex characteristics. Studying vortex characteristics and how they affect fan aeromechanics is vital to ensuring safe fan operation.

DigiPLACE - Digital Platform for Construction in Europe

DigiPLACE will create a common ecosystem of innovation, standardization and commerce with the aim to collect the achieved results and to increase the productivity of the sector and the quality of its end products (buildings & infrastructures). Could digitalization help the sector to solve these historical issues and future ones? What kind of digitalization, what kind of market, what kind of production and supply-chain we could imagine? What kind of consumers do we have for our products and services. How do these worlds work together? DigiPLACE aims to investigate all these themes with a strong analysis of markets, actors and barriers. It will define a Reference Architecture Framework (RAF) for digital construction platform based on an EU-wide consensus involving a large community of stakeholders and the expertise of selected key players, resulting in a strategic roadmap for successful implementation of this RAF.
