Indoor air quality measurement campaign for new housing units

Photo: Olivier Boé

The CSTB guides building managers in running indoor air quality measurement campaigns to meet specific needs. For example, Groupe 3F, which manages more than 250,000 housing units in France and regularly constructs new ones, wants to ensure good indoor air quality (IAQ) for tenants moving into new housing units.

The CSTB established an IAQ measurement protocol for acceptance testing and deployed it in 40 housing units of 11 residential buildings of Groupe 3F in the Paris region. The measurements document the concentrations of gaseous and airborne particulate chemical compounds, comfort parameters (temperature and relative humidity), and any presence of mold.

Descriptive data pertaining to location, construction method, type of ventilation system, interior materials, etc, are collected at the same time and compared with quantitative data.
