5 Chinese cities designated Sino-French Pilot Eco-cities and engaged in HQE™ development certification with the support of the CSTB Group
At the 14th edition of the International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building in Zhuhai, China, on April 2 and 3, 2018, the Sino-French Pilot Eco-City Prize was awarded to five cities across the country, in the presence of Qiu Baoxing, president of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies (CSUS) and former vice minister of construction, Étienne Crépon, CEO of the CSTB, and Patrick Nossent, President of Cerway.
Heat recovery from greywater tested under real conditions
A research team of the CSTB worked on estimating the potential for instant heat recovery from greywater, thanks to the experimental installation Simulhome at the Aquasim test facility. Simulhome reproduces domestic water use realistically, in a standard-equipped housing unit.
Urban swales to improve stormwater management
In urban areas, stormwater can cause pollution and floods as a consequence of increasing urbanization, which makes ground impermeable. As part of an R&D partnership project called Matriochkas, the CSTB is working with IFSTTAR Nantes, Centrale Nantes, the City of Nantes and the Loire-Brittany Water Agency on an urban stormwater swale system that enables permeation and retention. The CSTB is testing this full-scale solution at its Aquasim test facility.
Measuring the performance of a water heat recovery system
Gray water heat recovery systems can instantly capture energy from household wastewater, thereby improving the thermal balance of buildings. To measure the actual performance of these systems, the CSTB has been offering tests in its Cofrac-accredited laboratory since September 16, 2014.
