Developing a method to assess interactions between urban systems and biodiversity
Measures to protect biodiversity have been reinforced in the regulations on urban development, particularly with the Law on the Protection of Biodiversity adopted in 2016. The objective is to provide the stakeholders of development and construction with indicators and tools to assess what impacts buildings and neighborhoods have on biodiversity.
The CSTB, BRGM, Bouygues Construction, and the HQE Association – France GBC are developing a new tool to contextualize building design: OVALEC
The four partners pool their expertise to develop OVALEC, an R&D project to help stakeholders in the circular economy. Under this agreement, they are developing a new tool to aid design and decision-making in support of the environmental quality of buildings.
